The 2022 General Election results are in!

The primary elections in Maryland and DC have come to a close! In the face of a Supreme Court that is determined to roll back decades of progress in protecting the rights of so many Americans, the people we elect to make decisions locally can be a critical defense against the extremist tide and can blunt the worst of national harms.

D’var Torah: Reflection on the 2022 Montgomery County Primary Election

We are living in challenging times, and I am sure that over the last year, each of us has experienced feelings of despair. At times, despair has seemed the only reasonable response to any number of devastating events, especially at the national level. And yet out of the ashes of destruction, this week’s Haftorah of Consolation reminds us that we can find comfort and hope in unity.

When former Senator Bobby Zirkin resigned, Baltimore County was left with a vacant seat in the State Senate just days before the 2020 General Assembly legislative session started. What an Election!

What an election. For DC, for Maryland, and for the JUFJ Campaign Fund, there were amazing, inspiring victories — and a few devastating and infuriating losses. Now that the dust is starting to settle, I wanted to share a few reflections with you.

Resistance is Local: If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

November 6 is important for the entire country, and we need folks on the ground in DC. Without local organizing, all the work we do for paid family leave, higher wages, quality public education, affordable housing, and so much more will be in jeopardy.

Mazel Tov to Marc Elrich!

Almost a month after the Primary Election, the Board of Elections has confirmed Marc Elrich will be the Democratic candidate for Montgomery County Executive.

As we shared in our “What’s at Stake” messages in the weeks leading up to the primary, there were some real choices to make in this election.

Marc Elrich’s priorities are Montgomery County voters’ priorities

The general election in Montgomery County this fall is shaping up to be much more interesting – and heavily contested – than usual. Voters are apparently going to have to steel ourselves for months more of dramatically slanted editorializing about Democratic primary winner Marc Elrich.
