Jessica Klaitman, MSW, is a community activist, justice advocate, social worker, yoga and meditation teacher, and mother. Born and raised in Baltimore, she attended Baltimore City Public Schools, Smith College, and the Hunter College School of Social Work at the City University of New York. Jessica has worked in many fields, from September 11th response to public defense to electoral engagement. Currently, she is the Community Affairs Director for the Chair of the Baltimore County Council. Jessica serves on the Steering Committee of Baltimore Women United, is the Chair of the Baltimore Women United for Action PAC, is on the Board of Let’s Thrive Baltimore, and serves as a District Captain for JUFJ. Jessica was a member of the Emerge Maryland class of 2021 and is a fellow in the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies 2021 Justice Leaders Fellowship on Economic Empowerment. Jessica is a 500 hour certified yoga teacher who uses the practices of yoga and meditation to instill skills for releasing stress and promoting wellness and compassion in students, clients, and community members. Jessica lives in Baltimore County with her husband, three children, and a pandemic puppy.
